We make a wide range of unique hand made leather goods for individuals and organisations,  both ‘off the shelf’ as well as bespoke. Our goods have a strong historic influence born from a background in history, art and archaeology. These elements have been drawn together to form Cordwain Higgler.

All items are made using the best traditional and natural materials available. Our leather comes from Britain’s last oak bark tannery, we use natural fibre threads and fittings are made to last, for instance solid brass, not plate to prevent rust.
Designs are to our own pattern and applied by hand. We have dies (stamps) made for us exclusively (and can do the same for you, minimum order required ). Our wares can be made to order with your requirements, please get in touch with us us at using the tab at the top of the homepage.

Our aim is to provide quality English craft items in a world of mass production. We hope that it would be extremely unlikely that you will come across anyone else with an identical item. The unique qualities of leather, means that it improves with age and becomes a more personal item.

The pride in our work comes from knowing that our items will last and that the owners, we hope, become more attached to them as time goes by.

Groups and organisations
Many of our items can be customized to carry your own design, logo or badge. These are ideal for any organisation wanting bespoke gifts or sale items. We supply clubs, companies, H.M forces, squadrons, vessels and regiments. These corporate gifts make very special presents at functions or celebrations.

We offer personalised flasks which make unusual and special gifts, particularly for weddings, they are ideal for the best man and ushers.

Good materials can be hard to find and more often than not have to be bought in bulk. We offer some of the materials we use in quantities more suitable for the home crafter.
If you don’t see exactly what you want let us know our existing items can be made with any combination of our designs and dyes.
